Home for the aged' Foundation-laying
For the "Home for the
Aged" small sums had been collected since 1966 by
holding a Fete and by inviting donations from friends and well-wishers. On the
10th
November, 1973, the Society laid the Foundation Stone of the proposed Home for
the Aged on a plot of land purchased in Fatehpur Beri beyond Mehrauli. A unique
part of this Foundation Stone-laying ceremony was that the Bishops and Pastors
of
various denominations jointly laid their hands on the foundation stone after it
had
been blessed.
Thereafter, appeals
were made to various Churches and world bodies
for financial help and one of the organisations which came out with a
substantial
grant was the Fellowship of the Least Coins who, since then, had been sending
4000
dollars in two instalments. This Fellowship once again gifted a sum of 2000 dollars.
The Society expressed its gratitude for
this generous donation which went a long way in meeting its financial
requirements.
